What is a Hinge Switch?
A hinge switch is usually used at the hinge point of a door or safety guard for machinery. These devices are a type of interlock switch and disconnect power to machinery by breaking the electrical circuit when the barrier is opened. This helps to prevent risk of injury to operators when entering hazardous areas and minimises risk of damage or tampering with equipment.
Schmersal's offer includes the TVS, TESK, and TC series hinged safety switches.
The TVS 335 models have a slim design and a robust metal enclosure that offers excellent durability. A high ingress protection rating of IP67 ensures that the TVS 335 is dust-tight and can even withstand temporary immersion in water. TVS 410 switches can be used with left or right hinged doors and are designed for simple mounting. The TC 236 units are ideal for position monitoring of maintenance flaps and smaller rotating doors. They have a tough glass-fibre reinforced thermoplastic enclosure with a wide ambient temperature range of -30°C to +80°C.
The TESK hinge switches are suitable for general use with safety guards. The TESK switch features a freely adjustable switching angle and a large swivel area of 270°, making it a versatile option. It has been tested to ensure a mechanical life of above 1 million operations to give you optimal durability. Different contact variants with up to 4 contacts are available.
