Hazardous Area Floodlights

Hazardous area floodlights use high intensity lamps to illuminate large areas. They are most commonly available with LED (light emitting diode) lightsas this technology is very efficient and wastes little energy in the form of heat. In hazardous environments excess heat could provide an ignition source so LED floodlights are preferred to fluorescent lampsor halogen lights.

What are hazardous area floodlights used for?

Hazardous area floodlights are used when lighting is required in harsh environments. This means the floodlight may be exposed to corrosive materials, dangerous locations or explosive environments. The suitability of the hazardous area floodlight must be assessed against the intended environment to ensure it will work correctly and won't introduce any new risks.

Types of hazardous area floodlights

Hazardous area floodlights are typically corrosive resistant. They are also portable and commonly found in manual work environments. They range in temperature classification, output power and zone classification (how hazardous an environment they can be used in).
