The Vishay IL300 linear optocoupler consists of an AlGaAs infrared emitter irradiating an output PIN photodiode and a feedback photodiode. The feedback photodiode captures a percentage of the emitters flux and generates a control signal (IP1) that can be used to keep the emitter output constant by adjusting the emitter forward current.
