With AI-related jobs more than doubling over the past three years, and job postings related to AI increasing by 119%, RS Components has analysed job posts from some of the world’s biggest tech companies to discover who has the highest percentage of AI-related job openings.
Nvidia leads the way with 36% of their 1,130 job openings containing the term Artificial Intelligence. The computer game company designs graphic processing units for the gaming and professional markets, so using systems and analytics such as AI supports with processes and development of new games.
Interestingly, a former Google Executive has predicted that AI will replace 40 per cent of jobs in the next 15 years. The executive stated that AI will allow new industries to be built from the ground up with automation in mind; whilst AI will be cheaper than human employees, it will also create new roles as well as replace current ones. When it comes to Google’s AI jobs, over 230 are listed on their careers site, making up 9% of their total openings.
Popular social media platform Facebook and streaming platform Netflix also make it into the top 20, with Facebook offering 183 jobs in AI - 6% of their total roles - and Netflix offering 23, which makes up 5% of the total jobs they have on offer. Both companies are growing rapidly and are setting new trends to keep up with technology, so it's only right that they are amongst some of the top companies hiring in the AI space.
One of the largest tech companies in the world, Apple, comes in at number nine with 403 AI jobs on offer, 7% of their total 5,680 jobs available. Apple is one of the most innovative companies in the world, so it may come as a surprise that they are only in 9th place. Could this be due to the fact that they’re profound for being a forward-thinking business and have already hired the majority of their AI roles?
Another innovative company in the technology business is Jeff Bezos' ecommerce platform, Amazon, which comes in 14th place for percent of AI jobs (2% of total openings) but top for number of AI roles with a total of 846 openings referencing AI.
It’s clear that the technology sector prioritises hiring in AI, but which sectors will be next to drive up the market and start boosting their AI recruitment?
Methodology: By searching for the term 'artificial intelligence' on the job boards of each company, we were able to compare the search results to the total number of openings to get a percentage. Global job boards were used for all companies except for Accenture, for which only UK jobs were analysed. We used a selection of seed lists to decide which companies to feature and also included additional companies that are known for exploring AI technology. All data can be found here.
