What are the benefits of USB 3.1?

USB 3.1 supports 20 volt, 3 amp power delivery and is backwards compatible, allowing you to use them on devices with previous USB versions such as USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. This cable also has a 5.1KΩ resistor to prevent too much power getting to a USB 3.0 device.

What is the difference between type C and A?

Type C connectors are a much smaller version of a standard USB connector and are used with USB C ports commonly found on devices such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets. USB A is the most common USB type and the connectors and ports are found on a wide range of devices including hard drives, computers, power supplies and more.

Will the data transfer rate decrease if used with a lower USB version?

Yes, if using a USB 3.1 adapter with cables of lower USB versions, the data transfer rate will be limited to the lower version.
