SmartWire

Darwin technology
Darwin technology heralds a fundamental change in the switching cabinet. It represents a bridge between the automation world and the world of switching devices.

Yesterday
In the past, sensor and actuator had to be wired individually to the inputs and outputs of the PLC. High wiring requirements resulted, with big control cabinets and high probability of wiring faults.

Today
The next stage is where sensor and actuator are wired on a decentralised pre-processing station and connected to a central controller by fieldbus. Reduced wiring results due to remote I/O and use of fieldbus. But there is still possibility of error and a high wiring requirement.

Today with easyConnect SmartWire
Easy connect enables motor starters to be connected directly to the controller, resulting in an intelligent wiring system that not only offers considerable savings in wiring, but wiring faults are prevented and inputs/outputs migrate to where they are needed.

First step, SmartWire
The Darwin project covers the entire Moeller product portfolio for the switching cabinet in single evolutionary stages, and involves the areas controlling, switching, protecting, HMI functionality and drives. The first step in this new direction is called easyConnect SmartWire, enabling conventional xStart motor starters to be connected to a PLC without any complex control wiring required.

SmartWire is an addition to the well-established range of Moeller switching devices and is designed as an accessory for the standard devices.

More benefits
By connecting instead of wiring, wiring faults become a thing of the past. The gateway, connected motor starters and contactors are configured automatically so no particular know-how, software or special devices are required for mounting and commissioning.
