How do push button switches work?
Push button switches control the flow of electricity in circuits. When the button is pressed the mechanism inside will respond by either opening or closing the internal contacts, which can either break the circuit or complete it.
What are the types of push button switches?
Two main types of push button switch are momentary action switches and latching switches. Momentary push button switches, also called spring return buttons, must be continuously compressed to activate. When released, they return to their original position. Latching switches, also called maintained push button switches, will maintain their state after the button is pressed until it is pressed again.
