Pneumatic cylinder reed switches are a type of proximity sensor which is used with pneumatic cylinders. Norgren reed switches of this type can be fitted to the outside of a magnetic cylinder, enabling position sensing of the piston. Norgren's M/50 LSU series reed switches feature NO (normally open) operation, yellow LED indicators for clear visual indication, and offer vibration resistance of 35 g (at 2000 Hz). These models have ingress protection up to IP66 as they are dust-tight and resistant to jets of water. They can also operate in temperatures of up to +80°C which makes them ideally suited for tough industrial environments. In addition, they have a fast response time of less than 1.8 ms.
