How do pressure and vacuum switches work?

Pressure and vacuum switches work in different ways. Pressure switches are controlled by the level of fluid pressure on the input. When the pressure reaches a certain level, an electrical contact will be closed, ensuring that the pressure stays within given bounds. Vacuum switches regulate the flow of vacuum between two spaces, ensuring it is present where it is needed.

Different pressure and vacuum switches operate under different types of pressure, such as negative pressure, electro-mechanical pressure, relative pressure and compound pressure. This is determined by the conditions in which they operate, and of course will impact which one you choose for your project.
