    Box section end caps are a popular and widely used type of tube plug or insert, commonly found in all manner of structural systems technologies.     What is a box section end cap, and how are they used?

    This type of end cap is a simple plastic (polyamide or PE) tube insert - sometimes called a square bung, foot plug, tube cap or tube end plug - that's used to seal off a ‘box section' or length of square aluminium tubing in furniture, devices or rack mounting assemblies.

    Sealing off the open ends of these hollow tubes in a frame or flow rack serves multiple practical purposes, including:

    • Improved hygiene and cleanliness in clean rooms and hospitals
    • Prevention of dust ingress and particle build-up
    • Reduction in build-up of static electricity (when using ESD-capable tube stops), helping protect electrostatically sensitive devices and components from shock damage

    Most square tube caps are easy to push-fit and insert by hand, being constructed to include a series of horizontal internal ribs that help provide a secure and flexible fitting for the appropriate tube size.
