Rackmount Enclosures

Rackmount enclosures are specialised devices used as protection and housing for electronics. They are designed for rack mounting in 19-inch racks. They are available in industry standard rack space options referred to as rack units. A rack unit is a unit of height measure defined as 44.50 millimetres (1.75 inches), where the frame's height or height of the equipment is expressed as multiples of rack units.

How do rackmount enclosures work?
The front panels of rackmount enclosures are usually pre-drilled so you can easily mount them in an industry standard rack. They are designed with ventilation slots, usually at the top and bottom to keep your electronics cool. Rackmount enclosures will also come with screws to prevent equipment from moving within the rack and they come in different configurations.

What are rackmount enclosures used for?
Rackmount enclosures are fitted inside rack units to secure equipment, save storage and protect fragile rack-mounted equipment. They are used in a broad range of sectors: satellite and telecoms, live performance and test and measurement products, data centres, central offices and equipment rooms.
