WAGO Interface Modules
WAGO Interface modules connect electronic devices to electrical systems at the control level. These modules perform signal transmission and distribution functions within the device and the system.
What are WAGO Interface Modules used for?
The primary function of an interface module is to facilitate and optimise wiring operations in most tool rooms, factories, and manufacturing plants.
- Signal Conditioning: Interface modules can be used to condition signals between different devices in an industrial system. They can adapt signals from sensors or actuators to the levels required by the programmable logic controller (PLC) or other control devices.
- Isolation: WAGO interface modules often provide electrical isolation between different parts of a control system. Isolation helps prevent electrical interference, protects sensitive components, and enhances the reliability of the overall system.
- Communication: Some WAGO interface modules support different communication protocols, allowing for the integration of devices that use different communication standards.
- Power Supply: Interface modules may include power supply functionalities to provide the necessary power to connected devices. They ensure a stable and reliable power source for sensors, transmitters, and other components in the system.
- Connection Technologies: WAGO is known for its spring-loaded terminal blocks, which allow for quick and secure electrical connections without the need for tools. Interface modules with these terminal blocks simplify installation and maintenance processes.
- Modularity: WAGO interface modules often follow a modular design, allowing users to easily expand or reconfigure their control systems. This modularity facilitates flexibility in system design and reduces downtime during modifications.
- DIN Rail Mounting: Designed to be mounted on DIN rails, this is standard for mounting industrial control equipment as it makes them easy to install and arrange in control panels.
- Analog and Digital I/O: They enable the connection of various sensors, actuators, and other devices to the control system.
Types of Interface Modules
- Passive modules have up to 60 output poles that can be produced from a single cable input. These modules are easy to connect with simple mounting functionality and come with or without LED signaling features. Examples of passive-interface modules include flat cable, D-subminiature, resistor, and diode modules.
- Relay modules or modular modules amplify and isolate output signals by cleaning and protecting them from signal interference. Relay modules have galvanic isolation, which prevents static charge. These modules have DIN rail mounting or AC/DC features to reduce installation and maintenance time.
- These modules come with both male and female connectors for maximum flexibility.
