SMC (SubMiniature version C) are coaxial RF (Radio Frequency) connectors with a screw-type interface. They feature between 10 and 32 machine screw threads and, when mated, provide an air gap closure for protection against high-voltage breakdown and leakage in your PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards).
Types of SMC Connectors
Available in 50 and 75 Ohm configurations, SMC connectors are suitable for small form factor coaxial cables and PCBs where size matters.
Like snap-coupling SMB (SubMiniature version B) connectors, the centre contacts of SMC connectors are reversed when compared with SMA (SubMiniature version A) Connectors. Male (jack) SMC connectors have a pin for the centre contact whereas female (plug) connectors have a socket for the centre contact. The plug connectors feature a mating hex nut ( a six-sided nut with internal screw threads) while the jack connectors have an external thread.
