SKF Plain Bearings

SKF's plain bearings are mechanical components that allow angular rotation to occur around a central point in two angled directions. You'll find a multitude of different types of plain bearings from SKF to choose from, they can accommodate a variety of different applications. Just to name a few, they are used within engines, heavy machinery, robotics and car suspension systems.

A few of the different types of SKF plain bearings that you will find available are radial spherical plain bearings, angular contact spherical plain bearings and spherical plain thrust bearings. Something that all of these have in common is the ability to accommodate misalignment from mounting or shaft deflection.

So, how do they work? They typically have the same working principle, all featuring an outer ring that has a spherical inner moulding. The inner rings have convex outer mouldings that create a perfect sliding surface. The use of other rolling elements such as balls or rollers between the inner and outer rings.
