High Temperature Epoxy

Epoxy resins are polymer chemical compounds that 'cure' after application to form a very hard bonding surface. They tend to be chosen for use in specific scenarios that require the glueing material to have certain additional material or mechanical properties, in addition to just stickiness. These often include a wide range of industrial uses involving aircraft and automobiles, construction and concretes, electronics and PCB prototyping, and hydropower.

Our wide range of high-temperature epoxy resins and adhesives are supplied by a variety of household name brands such as 3M , Araldite, Electrolube, Loctite and MG Chemical. In addition, our in-house RS PRO line offers directly comparable quality at reduced cost and is equally effective as a specialist high-temperature glue for use on all manner of surfaces, including metal and glass.

How do epoxy adhesives and resins differ from regular glues?

High-temperature epoxy is characterised by its excellent resistance to extreme heat. Standard epoxies can often be degraded by prolonged exposure to heat or humidity, and sometimes won't be able to return to their pre-heated state easily. Resins specifically designed for high-temperature applications, on the other hand, will include a variety of additional mixtures or coatings to deliver better performance under these demanding conditions.

What is high-temp epoxy used for?

These advanced industrial or hobbyist adhesives are also known for much better electrical and chemical resistance than standard glues and bonding products, along with high their strength and durability, and low absorption of moisture.

Such qualities often mean that epoxies are also ideally suited for use as a protective coating, patching or filler material, and corrosion-resistant applications in exposed outdoor or marine environments. Typical uses of high-temperature epoxy resin might include:

  • As a strong general-purpose adhesive in hobbies or industry
  • As a binder in cement and mortars
  • As a filler in rigid foam form
  • As a non-skid coating
  • As a compound used to solidify loose surfaces, such as in solidifying sand for oil drilling
  • As an industrial coating or laminate
  • As a sealing, potting or encapsulating media
  • As a bonding element in fibre-reinforced plastics
