Arduino Uno ATmega328 MCU board

The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. The Uno differs from all preceding boards in that it does not use the FTDI USB-to-serial driver chip. Instead, it features the Atmega8U2 programmed as a USB-to-serial converter. Two versions are available differing only in the MCU package style: DIP or SMD. The Rev3 part has some minor pin changes.

Demijon project
This is a good development platform with free programming and breadboard design software support. It was used to count bubbles passing through a Demijon air lock to determine and display wine S.G. and percentage alcohol. PIC chips had been used in the past but the Arduino is far easier to use; simply plugged into a PC USB cable, and with widely available standard interface and sensor components meant the whole project was built and running in a single week-end. 5* :)
