Series 2SS omnipolar magnetoresistive sensors

These magnetoresistive sensors are around ten times more sensitive (in range) than classic Hall effect sensors, in the direction parallel to the magnetoresistive element.
Their omnipolar characteristics allow activation of the sensor by a north or south pole.

Honeywell Hall Effect Sensor, 3 Pin, 3.8V - 2SS Series - 2SS52M

When you need a component to accurately detect motion, use this highly-responsive Hall effect sensor from Honeywell. The fast-operating speed of 0 to 100kHz is designed to keep up with quick movements. The integrated circuitry, digital output and band-gap regulator mean it's capable of reacting to low magnetic fields. This component is an omnipolar sensor, so it can be activated by either a north or a south pole, giving you greater flexibility of use. Its compact size means it won't take up too much space in tight or crowded systems.

Features & Benefits

• Comes with three pins for easy and secure through-hole mounting on a PCB (printed circuit board)
• Wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C means it can cope with extremes of heat and cold
• Works with supply voltages from 3.8 to 30V, making it suitable for use with a wide range of machinery

Applications

• Lifts
• Cylinder position sensing
• Laptop lid sensing
• Proximity sensing in industrial conveyor belts

How can I maximise the sensitivity of this Hall effect sensor?

If you install this sensor parallel to the magneto-resistive element, you can increase the range of motion detection by about ten times.
